Mamuka Didebashvili

Mamuka Didebashvili (Dideba) was born in 1968 in Tbilisi. He studied at the Nikoladze Art School. Later he studied painting at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. From a young age, Didebashvili participated in numerous art fairs both in Georgia and around the world. Throughout his career, Didebashvili worked with both figurative and abstract painting, and eventually combined these two trends in his later portraits. In her practice, Mamuka uses a complex and time-consuming multi-layered Flemish painting technique, which was used by the old masters of the Northern Renaissance. At first glance, Mamuka’s characters resemble the characters of the Flemish masters, but because of the bright colors and abstract background, it seems that Didebashvili’s characters are torn out of any temporal or geographical context. For more than 15 years, Didebashvili’s works have been exhibited and participated in art fairs in Georgia, as well as in the UK, Ireland, USA, Europe and Russia.
